Step away from the everyday and into a space of rest, reflection, and renewal. Dr. Dallas Gingles will guide us through the teachings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, sharing the wisdom Bonhoeffer once offered to the pastors he trained. Together, we’ll learn, play, pray, and enjoy the gift of community.
The Rio Texas Conference Youth Ministry Council equips and supports young leaders so they can lead well as they work as Christ’s disciples for the transformation of the world. This diverse group of 7th-12th graders exhibit gifts for leadership and strive to live into Christ’s great commandment, loving God and neighbor in all they do.
The Rio Texas Youth Ministry Council consists of youth and adults from across the Rio Texas Conference. These youth are leaders who want to make a difference in the United Methodist Church. Youth are confirmed members in their local church and serve in their local churches, their district, the conference, and beyond. The council consists of youth from each of the Rio Texas Conference districts and reflects the diversity of our conference. Members of this council serve as representatives to the annual conference and have opportunities to attend jurisdictional and global events.
The YMC meets monthly via zoom to discuss topics which are important to them and the youth of our conference. They also meet quarterly in person to do service projects, fellowship, have fun, and serve our communities and the conference.
This is a fun way to get involved in the United Methodist Church, have a voice in the things happening in our conference (we send 9 voting delegates to annual conference each year), and learn about all that it means to be United Methodist and a part of the Wesleyan tradition.
Applications for membership in the Youth Ministry Council opened Sunday, August 24th and remain open until Friday, September 19, 2025. For more information, visit www.riotexas.org/ymc
